Born in Glenamaddy, Co. Galway

On Thursday evening, June 19, 2025, Nellie died very peacefully in her 102nd year in the excellent care of staff at St. Mary’s nursing home, surrounded by her family of whom she was immensely proud. Nellie is sadly predeceased by her daughter Marianne, her husband Martin and by her much-loved grandson Jasper who died recently. A wonderful mother to Marianne (R.I.P.), Evelyn, Ricky, Kevin and Martyn. She will always be remembered and missed by her children and their families; Marianne’s widower Brian and children Fiona, Aideen, Marc and Colin Mac Gonagle, Ricky’s wife Sandra and their children Greg, Richard, Lorna, Alex and Karl, Kevin’s wife Debbie and their children Zach, Quincy, Alanna and Wylie, Martyn’s son Julius and his mother Louise, Martyn's partner Katharine, by her great grandchildren and sisters Teresa and Gretta, relatives and friends.

Reposing at her daughter’s home in Rockbarton Park from 6.00 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Saturday, June 21, 2025

Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Nellie on arrival at St. Joseph’s Church, Presentation Road at 10 a.m. (Ten o'clock). Following Mass, she will be laid to rest in Rahoon cemetery.
