Esther M. Byrne, age 94, Native of Rathvilly, Co. Carlow, Ireland; formerly of Our Lady Help of Christians Parish, Chicago; longtime resident of Downers Grove, currently of Elmhurst; former nurse at St. Anne’s Hospital and library assistant at Downers Grove Public Library; longtime sacristan at St. Mary of Gostyn Parish, Downers Grove.

Beloved wife of the late Jack; loving mother of James (Nicola), Mary and John (Angela) Byrne; proud grandmother of Ciara, Meghan, Michael and Kellan; dear sister of Peter, Brigid “Sisi”, Gabriel, Malachy and the late James, Peg, Marie Theresa and Johnny; dear aunt of many.

Visitation Friday, 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, 8:00 a.m. until time of prayers 9:00 a.m. at Gibbons Funeral Home, 134 South York Road, (½ mile North of Saint Charles Road), Elmhurst.

Mass of Catholic Burial 10:00 a.m. at Visitation Catholic Church. Interment Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Hillside.
