John Joe Shevlin (better known as Dodie)

John Joe Shevlin (better known as Dodie), Upper Barrack Street, Belmullet, Co. Mayo peacefully at the Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar surrounded by his loving family on 11th September 2025.

Predeceased by his wife Bernadette, infant daughter Loretta, parents Tom and Annie, sisters Tess, Eileen, Mary and brother Chris.

Beloved father of Anne (Galway), Tom (Wales), Gerry (Belmullet), Sean (Belmullet), Fabian (Belmullet), Padraig (U.K.), Cathal (Belmullet) and Leonard (Belmullet). He will be sadly by his heartbroken family, daughters in law, cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

May His Kind and Gentle Soul Rest in Peace.

Remains reposing at McDonnell’s Funeral Home, Belmullet on Tuesday evening from 5 o’clock until 8 o’clock. Funeral will arrive at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Belmullet on Wednesday afternoon for Funeral Mass at 1 o'clock followed by burial in Glencastle New Cemetery.
