James died peacefully at home on Monday, July 21st, 2025, with his much-loved family by his side. Mourned and sadly missed by his sister Nábla McCarthy, brothers Patrick, Donal, Hugh and Fr. Francis, brother-in-law Pat, sisters-in-law Kathleen, Ethna, Mary and Mairéad, friend Máire O’Leary, his nieces and nephews, devoted carers, the extended family and retired colleagues from the Brothers of Charity Services and University of Galway. Predeceased by his parents John and Bella, brother John, sister Eileen and her husband Jim Loftus.

Reposing at ‘Aras Naofa’ (H91 PX95) within the grounds of the Church of St. Oliver Plunkett, Renmore from 5 p.m. Removal into the Church at 6.30 p.m.
Friday, July 25, 2025
Requiem Mass will be celebrated for James (Séamus) at 12 noon in the Church of St. Oliver Plunkett, Renmore. Following Mass, he will be laid to rest in Bushy Park cemetery adjacent to St. James’ Church. (H91 A5V2). Livestreaming link form Mass below.
