James (Jimmy) Owens

Menlough, Galway

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James (Jimmy) Owens, Ballagh, Menlough, Co. Galway.

Jimmy passed away, peacefully, in the care of University Hospital Galway on Friday 13th June 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A life well lived aged 98.

Jimmy lived a long, fulfilled, and joyful life. A man of quiet strength and great character.

Predeceased by his parents Michael and Mary Jane, his wife Christina and daughter in-law Norah, sisters, Eileen, Delia, Oonagh, Chrissie, Noreen, Philomena, and brothers Tom and Jackie.

Cherished Father of Mary, Catherine, Patricia, Michéal, Eileen and Pauline.

Deeply regretted by his brothers Michael and Paul, sons in law Stephen, Tom, Peadar, Richie, and Paul. His sisters in-law Ena Owens and Marie Mannion.

Fondly remembered by his 14 grandchildren, Marie, Karen, John, Hugh, Peter, Jane, Hannah, Ruth, Laura, Darragh, Eoin, Conor, Adam

and Cara. His nine great grandchildren Annabel, Elsie, Cillian, Fiadh, Louis, Aodha, Molly, Fionn and Bobby.

He will be missed dearly by his many nephews, nieces, cousins, neighbours and large circle of friends.

 

Reposing at The Franciscan Agriculture College Mountbellew (H53WE00) on Sunday the 15th June from 5pm to 8pm.

Funeral cortege will arrive at St. Mary’s Church Menlough (H53HF10) for 12.00pm Mass on Monday the 16th of June.

Jimmy will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Christina in the new cemetery Menlough. Mass will be live streamed: https://www.churchtv.ie/menlough/
