Brendan McCann (Mathematician)

Brendan McCann (Mathematician), Ballymacarbry, Co. Waterford, formerly Waterford City and Co. Galway. Brendan passed gently from this life, listening to Vivaldi, on 31st October 2025, at 1pm. He passed away at home in Ballymacarbry in the presence of his loving wife Monica and under the exceptional care of South Tipperary Hospice. Throughout Brendan's illness, he met each day with courage, humour and his usual vibrant determination to live life fully.

Son of the late John and Nell (née Condon), treasured husband of Monica (née McCarthy), father of his adored children, Thérèse, Cormac and stepson Patrick. Brother of Mary and John, whose care and love he so appreciated during his illness.

Deeply mourned by his family, John’s wife, Niamh, and their daughter Ailbhe, his other family of devoted colleagues at S.E.T.U. who participated so lovingly in his physical and emotional care during his illness. Brendan will be sadly missed by his McCarthy sisters and brothers in law, Niamh, Eileanora, Padraig and Denis, father in law Michael, Therese and Cormac’s mother and Brendan's ex-wife Margaret and his wider family and friends.
