With great love and sadness, we share news of our mother’s passing on 27 April.
Born in Limerick and a lifelong resident of Galway, Alice was the eldest daughter of the late Jack and Eileen Griffin and sister of the late Sheila.
She will be deeply missed by her children John, James and Shelagh, grandchildren Emmi, Jack and Primo, son-in-law Peter Sorensen, daughter-in-law Jill Rotta, sister Jean, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in the United States, Canada and Scotland.
While Galway was always home for Alice, she spent 34 years raising her children in the United States. Faithfully, Alice returned home every summer to pick up where she left off - gardening, walks along the prom and trips to town. Her love of Galway will carry on through her children.
Given her energetic spirit, Alice was always up for an adventure. She loved learning and travel; music and dancing; and spirited games of Canasta.
We will always be grateful to our mom for her devotion and generosity to family and friends, for her strength and stay through good and difficult times, and her deep gratitude for the blessings in life.
